Unit 1 & 2
Unit 1
Stamp

This is my stamp, it has a long handle, and a square bace. I decided to use my initials as what it will stamp. I did not end up contimuing to glaze it, because I thought that it was too big to carry around to stamp my peices.
Plan:
-
roll out the handle
-
form the square base
-
roll out small coils for my initials
-
attatch them
Face sculpture

Plan:
make the ball of clay somewhat head shaped
Sculped the nose and eyes, then the wyebrows and lips
For this being one of my firt items to make, I think it turned out relativly well. I think the lips could have been more realistic. Ultimatly i chose fot to sontinue with this peice.
Small peice with undgerglaze

Plan:
-
roll out the clay, and put it into a slump mold
-
Make the borders
-
indent the pattern
-
underglaze in the small parts
-
add a ring to the bottom so it sits flat
I made this to hold some of my jewlry, and I think it turned out great for that. There is one spot that the purple glaze spilled on it so there is a small smudge, but it is not too big. Overall I am happy how this turned out.
Unit 2
Pinchpot cut in half

This is my first attempt at a pinch pot, I think I did well on it. It looks relatively even all around.
Pinch pot & small animal

For my pinch pot, I decided to make a small pot that will hold a plant. Monkeys are one of my favorite animals, and while looking on Pinterest I saw cute monkey sculptures, and was inspired. I then realized this piece can be both my pinch pot and my small animal sculpture.
Plan:
-
make pinch pot
-
make ears
-
roll and cut out face features
-
underglaze face
-
claze the rest

First, I sculpted my pinch pot body, following the videos and techniques shown in class. Then I sculpted the ears using flattened balls of clay. After that I rolled out clay and cut it to the shape of the monkeys face and made all of the other features to my liking.

I under glazed my piece, using the desired colors to make it look more like a monkey. then it was fired.
Two pinch pots together

Plan:
-
Make 2 equal-sized pinch pots
-
slip and score them together, and even out the seam
-
Cut a hole in the top
-
mold the lip outward
-
Attach all of the designs and underglaze them
-
glaze the rest of the pot
I liked the shape that it turned out, and I like the designs that I made on it. However, I do not like how the glaze turned out. I think it looks too uneven, especially the inside rim.

Historically inspired

Plan:
-
Use a slump mold to make the plate
-
carv out the rim designs i wanted
-
underglaze the orange colors
-
underglaze black in the carved out parts
-
underglaze paint the boat in the center

I really like the way that the colors and all of the designs turned out. I wish everything were a little bit more centered, but I'm still satisfied with it. The rim of he plate is a little thin, and I should have evened it out more
Mini Masterpiece tile(not finished)

For this masterpeice tile, I chose to base it off of the painting, "The fallen angel" by Alexandre Cabanel.
Plan:
-
make the tile shape
-
form the nose and eybrows
-
make the eyes
-
make the arm and hair
-
carve out behind the arm

I completely sculpted this, and was very satisfied with it, but it overheated on the shelf outside, and it cracked because it became too hard, so I had to remake it.

Because my face broke and I had to remake it, my remake turned out a little different. I do not like my remake as much as my original, and I wish it was more angled as my first one was.
Choice
Plan:
-
roll out slab
-
attatch shelf bottom with wavy pattern
-
underglaze yellow, with black lines
I saw somthing similar to this on instagram, and decided to maek my own. It is a wall hanging , where a whiteboard marker can sit, and you can use it as a erasable to-do list. I am very happy with how it turned out.
